Today at Jelly Nursery – Show and Tell
I introduced Jelly nursery in a post last year and it’s still going strong. Whilst we don’t play it as often as we used to, it’s still a favourite with iBear and it’s also still giving me little insights into her school life. We have some new children in the class this year, all of them appearing around Christmas time….So in addition to the 7 kids already in attendance we now have Annabel, Rob and Robson. Say hello kids!
During a recent playtime session I came up with an idea of a mini series for the blog: “Today at Jelly Nursery”. Here’s the first installment of something I hope has legs. Which pretty much means iBear will all of a sudden decide she never wants to play with the babies again. Karma and fate love toying with me.
Show and Tell
Recently, in the real world, we had a great day going to the schools summer picnic event. iBear came home with loads of stuff bought from the stalls and this gave her an idea for Jelly Nursery. The babies had to bring something in from home to talk about in class.
We set up circle time and it was Teacher Daddy to start. He had to show everyone what he’d brought and tell a little story about why he liked it. Teacher Daddy LOVES star Wars so he brought in his little Darth Maul toy. This brought groans from the class, particularly from Teacher iBear it seemed.
“Apparently” four of the kids had forgotten to bring in something from home so they had to use gifts from Teacher iBears collection. She enjoyed the many grateful messages she received because of this. She’s all about the praise this one.
Highlights from the other children were as follows:
Rosie, for once, didn’t bring in her tablet. Instead she brought in a paper air glider which the whole class enjoyed throwing around the room. The glider more often than not landed on Teacher Daddys head.
Steven (think Roly from Hey Duggee) kept shouting “TOY CAR” as he pushed it around the room.
Little Katy was commended for bringing in her bookmark showing that her reading is coming on really well.
Finally, Robson was congratulated for being brave enough to speak up in class today having recently been really shy.
After show and tell Teacher iBear gathered the children together to announce who was star of the week….It was then that Chef Mammy announced dinner was ready and so another day at Jelly Nursery came to an abrupt end! I wonder what Teacher iBear has in store for them next time?
One Dads View
iBear has been taking Jelly Nursery to new levels recently. She’s been absorbing so much from school and it’s all coming out though her babies. It’s by far my favourite game to play with her and I truly hope we’ll be playing it for a long time yet.

A childs imagination is so precious! Ben has started to role play and the other day we cooked pizza in his peppa pig kitchen…. he also loves playing a baby but I think thats because he sees the twins getting attention hahah!
Thank you for sharing this with us at #TriumphantTales. I hope to see you back next week!
Love it! I hope the pizzas were nice?
I love seeing the kids play role play games. Such an important part of play! #TriumphantTales
