My 6 year old has already planned her Wedding!

I learnt this fascinating fact tonight. My Daughter is a right little chatterbox and we’ve had some brilliant exchanges whilst she’s in the shower prior to going to bed. She obviously takes after her Dad as most of my thinking is done there. She just doesn’t seem to have much of an inner monologue (again, guilty as charged) and tends to ramble on about anything and everything (stop it, this is getting scary!). It’s definitely one of my favourite things about her.

Tonight, it was all about her wedding. She just came out with it. No general chat leading up to the big announcement. Just “So me and H2B planned our wedding today Daddy”. ‘H2B’ is a boy in her class and they’ve been friends (boyfriend and girlfriend Daddy!) ever since they met on the first day of reception. They do make quite a cute couple to be fair.

As soon as she was in bed I scribbled it all down as I wanted to record it for future prosperity. So here it is, my 6 year old Daughters wedding plan:

The Bride and Groom

The first thing she said to me was that she was going to have her hair down. Apparently this was a request from H2B but she agreed with it. They are both going to have just two best men/bridesmaids. The chosen ones all come from her current year 1 class. Oh and there’s also a place for H2Bs little sister as flowergirl.

The groom is to be dressed in a black suit, white shirt, black boots, navy tie and a top hat. Her wedding dress will have a medium train (about the length from the bathroom door to the towel rail) and she’ll be wearing a tiara. She thinks she’ll change into an evening dress later on, although they’ve still to decide that. A pink flower will be worn in her hair to finish the look.

The bridesmaid will be wearing black and the flowers will be yellow, orange and red tulips.

The venue and order of the day

There seems to be a bit of a decision to make as to where to get married. At first iBear told me she quite liked the idea of a church. But she also likes the idea of a beach. Being the considerate soul she is she decided against a really long train on her dress as that would be too much for her bridesmaids to carry on the sand. I guess we’ll have to wait and see for this part. Wherever it is she’ll be arriving by limo!

The day time do will have fifty guests with a further fifty coming along to the evening disco. Speeches are to be before the meal which will consist of hot dog pasta followed by vanilla ice cream with chocolate sauce. The wedding cake will be chocolate with five little flowers and one big flower on it. The attention to detail is clearly apparent!

The honeymoon and life thereafter

After a lovely wedding day with all their family and friends the happy couple will be heading to Spain for a week. Apparently iBear has always wanted to go there? This is news to me but I don’t want to stop the momentum….

When they return, and for this next bit she lowers her voice in dramatic fashion, “Not a lot of people know this but a week after our honeymoon the babies will be coming along”. “Wow” I say “Babies?!” “Yes” she replies. “Four of them, two boys and two girls. We’ve already chosen names – Tom, Pete (NOT Peter), Rosie and Melinda”.

And with that, we’re done. She’s been showered, dried and changed into pyjamas and off she trots downstairs.

This last year has seen my Daughters imagination flourish and she is constantly chatting about something. The level of depth she goes into on the various subjects truly astounds me and I often forgot how young she still is.

Moments like the one I experienced tonight are the reason I started blogging nearly two years ago. I truly hope my Daughter and I can look back on this one day in the future.

I’m going to be one proud father walking this girl down the aisle.
